Events Painting

' My personal language is grounded within current events and contemporary life. Through figurative pieces, I intend to question issues such as poverty, population migration, conflict and problems that challenge our immediate lives.'

A self-imposed brief for the time being is to observe life, behaviour and humanity 'crossing the beach'. Digital macro photography, pencil, charcoal and pastel sketching, together with deliberation and reflection, has begun the process. Materials which could be selected to naturally enhance and add dimension to my work will be researched and mediums such as installations, objects, canvas based pieces, paintings and photography investigated.

Evaluating and questioning the purpose of painting in oils is foremost. With the advent of exploding creativity in all the new mediums of today, the blurring of disciplinary boundaries has made researching mixed mediums, digital and computer manipulated images very exciting.
