September 2004 - 2005

A gallery in the heart of Ascot, within reach of Brisbane, invited me to show some of my paintings in their gallery. The introduction was provided by an Australian painter, Sarah Larsen whom I met at the Biennale in Florence. At Oriel Gallery I enjoyed the meeting with Jeremy and Nessie Middleton who own and manage their gallery themselves. The wonderful Old Queenslander building in a quiet leafy suburb was a perfect setting.

Along our journey I met many painting and exhibiting Australian Artists and from Cairns to Sydney I visited countless galleries and exhibitions and discovered a whole new world of creative inspiration and art on this huge continent.

This substantial art appreciating and practicing community showed me art in all it's forms. Painters, photographers, sculptors, craft-artists, ceramicists, embroiders to name a few. All were a pleasure to meet and all were unique.

I finally was able to spend seven weeks and many, many hours exploring, learning and developing my critical and creative eye through this exciting medium. This was a great holiday experience. Our discovery of a completely wonderful country, an opportunity to meet like minded artists and art lovers and a chance to experience a bit of what exhibiting in Australia had to offer. Extremely worthwhile and an experience I will never forget.
